The designation "ISSPCS Practitioner" reflects upon the holder as being a competent and practicing Information Security and Security Engineering practitioner. Being the first of four possible levels of certification within the ISSPCS programme, all applicants must begin at the Practitioner level, either through examination or via the Grandfathering system. After the applicant holds a Practitioner designation, they may proceed to further levels.
Pre-requisites for ISSPCS Practitioners are:
- IT or related Degree (Bachelor or higher); AND
- 3 years information security experience.
You can apply for certification as either:
- Exam candidate - where you gain certification by sitting an exam; or
- Grandfathering scheme - that lets suitably qualified professionals may apply for ISSPCS Practitioner certification. This approach acknowledge current qualifications and work experience and is ideal for candidates with existing information security qualifications and experience.
ISSPCS recommends all Practitioner candidates download the ISSPCS Practitioner Resources.
After successful appointment as an ISSPCS Practitioner, applicants are granted three years of certification, without additional cost beyond the exam fee. After the initial three years have elapsed, Practitioners must show they have remained active within the Information Security and Security Engineering industries via the Activity Points scheme.
The ISSPCS Practitioner certification currently costs A$300 for an exam and 3 year certification and A$300 for an additional 3 year certification. Candidates in other countries need to convert to their local currency at the time as we currently only accept payment in $A.
